Tea from the Far East to the East Coast
EDMONTON, AB, – MAY 8TH, 2007—(CCNMatthews – May 8, 2007) – Cargo & James Tea proudly announces that it will be opening locations in the Maritimes. The Edmonton, Alberta based company is currently building a strong presence in Western Canada and the Eastern expansion is part of Cargo and James’ overall franchising plan to bring their unique tea experience across Canada. Earlier this year, they partnered with franchise developer WebbCo International Franchising Inc., a strategic partnership that has created an opportunity for entrepreneurs in the Eastern and Western provinces to take part in Canada’s tea movement.
The 5 year old company, operated by Tim Grover, also President and CEO of Cargo & James Tea, has a trendy atmosphere and inviting feel which breaks the stereotype that tea is “old.” As Grover puts it, “We have created an environment where great tea is available to everyone without being considered too stuffy or having connotations with this stereotype of “old.” We can’t wait for Eastern Canada to experience tea the Cargo and James way. By the end of this year, we hope to add Moncton and Halifax locations to the roster.”
Cargo and James Tea utilizes “the third place model” that Starbucks has leveraged across the globe; they are a place between work and home where tea drinkers are invited to relax and remove themselves from the fast-paced, busy world around them. And North America has no shortage of tea drinkers: Canadian per capita tea consumption increased 43% between 1996 and 2005. This growth is attributed primarily to two factors; the increasing trend, especially by younger generations, towards healthier lifestyles and an increasing awareness of the value of high quality tea. This is a trend which Cargo and James Tea is strongly capitalizing.
